Uni-Rex Hosts Engineering Booth at the WAMS Career Night
Uni-Rex took center stage at tonight’s Washington Academic Middle School’s (WAMS) annual Career Night. This event, designed to introduce middle school students to high school programs and career opportunities, provided an ideal platform for Uni-Rex to showcase the possibilities of FIRST and STEM education.
A dedicated group of Uni-Rex students and mentors hosted an interactive engineering booth, where they not only showcased the team’s program but also provided demonstrations of our robot. The hands-on experience showed students the exciting possibilities of robotics firsthand, igniting curiosity and enthusiasm for engineering and technology.
In addition to demonstrating our robot, Uni-Rex highlighted the comprehensive Engineering Pathways offered at Sanger High School (SHS) and Sanger West High School (SWHS). These 4-year classroom programs– led by Uni-Rex coaches– equip students with essential skills in programming, computer-aided design, electronics, and fabrication. Furthermore, the program enables students to earn valuable college credits while still in high school, laying a solid foundation for future academic and career success.
Our team’s efforts went beyond promoting our own programs. We emphasized the broader scope of STEM careers and the promising futures they hold. In a community where STEM proficiency and interest has historically been low, Uni-Rex served as a beacon for STEM education, striving to ignite curiosity and enthusiasm in a new generation of engineers.
The WAMS Career Night proved to be an invaluable opportunity to inspire Sanger’s community. Meeting hundreds of students, we were able to demystify STEM education and inform them of its endless possibilities.
