Competition: Central Valley Regional

Uni-Rex had an exciting start to our competition season this weekend at the Central Valley Regional!

Our students gathered at the Fresno Convention Center– alongside 37 other teams from across the world– to watch our robot compete. Across the tournament, we garnered a record of 6-9, earning a spot on the 8th Alliance with Team 100 (The Wildhats) and Team 6238 (POPCORN PENGUINS). In the elimination rounds, we broke to the third round of eliminations but ultimately lost to Alliance 2.

Though we didn’t qualify for the World Championship, our team was decorated with many awards for our robot design and team culture. Our innovative use of vacuums and suction cups to manipulate game pieces earned us the Creativity Award, sponsored by Rockwell Automation. Our head mentor, Ramon Cuevas, also earned the Volunteer of the Year Award for his generosity and dedication to FIRST Robotics. We congratulate both our students and Mr. Cuevas for earning these awards for the team!

CVR was ultimately a success for our team. Our students learned valuable skills from the competition and left with two honors. With the experience of CVR behind us, we excitedly await our next competition at the Monterey Bay Regional!
